‘ MORNING ALL!
It is very exciting promoting my brand and naturally this takes me in all sorts of different directions, quite literally – so I thought I’d share those directions with you, dear readers. This post is a little snapshot of what I SPY has been up to since the last post.
As you may know, from my previous post, in March I hosted an interiors evening: the Spring Studio with “my” African homewares and those of other lovely brands.

The idea behind this was to bring lots of beautiful products together in 2 roomsets, UNLIKE a pop up or design show, where every “trader” has their own individual stand. I like to read products in a setting, so I thought I would create my own. I aim to do the same again, possibly to tie in with Decorex in its new venue, so I’ll keep you posted.
April came and went with small people home from school and we bounced into May, with loads of the stock being requested for photoshoots: from Romo, to Larusi, by way of Cole & Son, Country Living, YOU Magazine, Mandarin Stone and DULUX which is completely brilliant. Although I would rather the editorial feature highlight the embryonic Interior Spy brand and products (obvs), I am delighted to loan out my wares to those talented stylists and assistants.

Small acorns and all that.
Speaking of loaning products, I was asked if I would lend my stock to the stunning glasshouse brand, Alitex for the Chelsea Flower Show. I pine for one of their glasshouses, where I could waft about in floaty edwardian cotton, tending to my lemons and tomatoes. Sadly I don’t have many images, but what I have is below. Loving that neon sign with the Binga platter.
Oh and 1 more thing…quite important actually.
I was idly googling the show gardens at Chelsea Flower Show. Naturally connections to Africa, specifically sub-Saharan Africa draw me in and I was SO excited to read about the CAMFED “Giving Girls In Africa a Space To Grow” garden, based on a Zimbabwean school house and garden, designed by Jilayne Rickards. A long shot, but I emailed Jilayne letting her know about “my” wares. Would she like to loan any as props, for her school house garden? Turns out, she would! It was brilliant to see the African baskets in their natural setting, or as natural as you can get in SW3! Still loving all that red, baked earth and the brightly-coloured oil drums. She went on to scoop not 1 but 2 Chelsea Golds.
Even better, is that Interior Spy is now linking up with CAMFED (Campaign For Female Education), and donating to this brilliant charity. CAMFED supports girls in sub-Saharan Africa to go to school and most importantly stay in school, giving them the chance of an education, lifting them out of poverty. More to follow on that next week.
Onto June, and as the prestigious House & Garden Festival kicks off on Weds 19th June at Olympia, Interior Spy is busy painting screens with Dulux’s version of Farrow & Ball’s Setting Plaster (a bit of a fave), wiring new pendant lights and planning how to make my tiny 2m x 3m look inviting and uncluttered yet-not-spartan. Tricky when just one of my Sungwe Throne chairs takes up most of the space.
Let’s see how that works out (panic).
So, come and say hi, Stand P34 and I’ll there somewhere, hidden by the forest of pendant lights I am planning to dangle from a garden trellis (don’t ask).
